Swift Calling System Development
In 2019 Graham Fell in conjunction with Men in Sheds was asked to create a swift nest box to install in a church bell tower by Action for Swifts in Kendal. Action for swifts are the leading experts within the UK for swift conservation. They recommended including a swift calling system. Without a calling system installed on the nest box the swifts are unlikely to find the boxes. Once a colony is established in an area they will return each year to next sites. The first prototype calling system was created and sent off to a swift expert. After confirming that the calling system would be easy to install and could be used to attract swifts, Graham Fell started production. Over the years demand has greatly increased. Graham has worked with many local conservation groups and councils throughout the UK, alongside selling to individuals. To provide further options Graham has also developed solar calling systems for off grid application
About Our Swift Calling Systems
We have various different options within our product range. Standard speakers have been used for many years and are perfect for use in a swift box or brick in a sheltered position. If your box isn’t sheltered then we have a waterproof version. This is a waterproof speaker supplied with a mount and stainless fittings.
If you don’t already have a mechanical timer and a USB plug these can also be added onto your purchase.
